Briana Gobourne is a hard-working Political Science and Human Rights student with years of successful intern experience in local government and the political workforce. She is recognized consistently for performance excellence with over 15 awards and scholarships for her academic success, leadership, and community service from agencies and organizations such as the New York State Senate, New York State Assembly, the Town of Huntington, Excellence in Success, L.I.B.E.A., Mid-Island Club, and many more. Briana is a graduate from Half Hollow Hills High School West (2017) where she graduated with a 3.9 GPA, an Advanced Regents Diploma and Mastery in Math Endorsement, National and French Honors Society, District Legislation Committee Member, and the President of the African American Student Organization. Not only has Briana worked for the Town of Babylon Supervisor’s Office, Suffolk County' Office of Minority Affairs, Youth Bureau, and Human Rights Commission, but also serves as the Creative Director of Habits 365 and a Transfer Peer Success Coach at John Jay’s Academic Student Success Programs. Briana is a recent graduate from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, Human Rights Minor with a 3.99 GPA. During her college years, not only was she on the Dean’s List every single semester, but she was a member for the Lambda Sigma Honors Society, the Kitamba Diversity in Analytics and Leadership Program, and was a select student of Political Science Department Faculty Mentored Research. She is excited to continue her academic journey on scholarship at Columbia University GSAS pursuing a Master’s Degree in Human Rights in the Fall of 2022. Briana is truly a passionate and individual eager that is ready to advocate for the voiceless and fight for proper human rights practice in government relations.
